DDI Steel Structures & Steel Crews

PREVENTING MISHAPS

Avoid the Costly Mistakes

A steel building is a big investment. The right planning, communication, guidance, can help you avoid common pitfalls and keep your project on track.

SAFETY & SELF-AWARENESS

Why It Matters

We’ve seen firsthand how easy it can be for a project to go off track or become costly especially when crucial details are missed. — These buildings are more than just empty structures, it’s a lifetime of savings, a retirement plan, a place to grow your business… that’s why we believe in being thorough and transparent throughout every step of the process.

We work with you to identify each of your needs. We go the distance, answering questions as they come. We make sure you understand every possible process, that others may fail to consider when evaluating your build. From material options, delivery, installation, and beyond. Our goal is to help you avoid those costly surprises and so you can feel confident with the decisions you make.

We Believe in Preventing Mishaps

We believe the right information for you should be available before the project begins. We work directly with you to identify requirements, potential challenges, and costs that may otherwise be overlooked by other providers. We go in-depth to prevent the risks of miscommunication, unexpected expenses, and costly changes that could occur after construction has already begun.

Facilities that are poorly planned, constructed, or designed, often increase exposure to hazardous conditions and higher maintenance costs. As a result of poor planning, these safety problems can be difficult, expensive, or possibly impossibly to fix.

WE BELIEVE IN OPEN COMMUNICATION AND TRANSPARENCY TO PROTECT YOUR PROJECT FROM THE COSTLY CONSEQUENCES OF POOR PLANNING.

COMMON PITFALLS TO WATCH OUT FOR

What to Look Out For

Because every project is a bit different, here are a few issues that can lead to unexpected costs and unwarranted frustration.

1. Misleading or Incomplete Quotes

Problem:

A low or initial quote doesn’t always mean you’re getting the lowest final cost. Others may fail to discuss important items such as insulation, doors, concrete, engineering, delivery costs (and the hidden costs of delivery such as gas costs) erection, permits, or site preparation; all these may be left out.

Instead:

Make sure your quote clearly explains what is included, what is excluded, and what additional costs you might encounter before construction begins.

2. Poor Planning & Design

Problem:

Changing your building after fabrication or construction has started can become very expensive very quickly. Poor planning can also lead to inadequate storage, or inneficient / costly modifications later.

Instead:

Proper planning before fabrication can save you significant amounts of time and money — We can help you think about how you intend to use a building, and provide ideas for how a building could be used today or change in the future.

3. Cheap Materials & Workmanship

Problem:

Not all steel buildings are built to the same standards. Cutting corners on materials, coating, fasteners, fabrication, or installation — all of these properties can affect the building’s durability and performance.

Instead:

You can confident in the quality of materials we use. Our goal is to set the industry standard for quality, including fabrication standards, protective coatings, structural specifications, and we have the crew and experience to help you all along the way.

4. Choosing The "Pricey" Constractor

Problem:

A contractor with a lower upfront price may provide fewer services, lower-grade materials, or leave important work to the customer — and vice versa, the big contractor you see online may be providing an inflated price.

Instead:

Make sure to compare the complete scope of work (we can help you with this), it’s not just the number at the bottom of the quote – if you’re not careful you could be paying more for your build.
